Our disabled toilet has had an upgrade! It is now an ’Inclusive toilet’, providing a baby changing table, a stoma shelf placed as required under a mirror and a sanitised bin.
As an ‘Inclusive’ toilet this enables a female child to be accompanied to the toilet by a male carer and vice versa and for use by anyone of any gender.
The stoma shelf was included directly after reading the plea of a Devon lady Rose who has been campaigning for toilets to include this facility. After speaking to her she said...
“…I just wanted to personally thank you . It actually bought me to tears when I heard about this, I don't think people really understand what a big thing it is for us and it just gives us ( stoma users) the stability to socialise, to get out and just feel normal…”.
