Help Protect the Future of Our Village Hall

We need to make essential repairs in 2027, to ensure our hall is safe and welcoming for everyone.

For more than 100 years, All Saints & District Village Hall has been at the heart of our community, providing a place for people to meet, celebrate, learn and connect.

Over recent years, thanks to the hard work of our volunteer trustees and the support of local people, we have completed a number of important improvements to keep the current hall, now over 50 years old, welcoming, accessible and fit for community use.

However, a recent professional survey has identified two serious issues that now require urgent attention: significant drainage problems affecting the building and a failing retaining wall behind the car park. Our plans include installing new drainage to divert water safely away from the hall, creating a safer entrance area and fully rebuilding the retaining wall to protect the stability of the site. We hope to complete these essential works around Easter 2027, helping to minimise disruption to hall users while protecting the building for the future. If left unresolved, these problems could lead to further structural damage and much higher repair costs in the years ahead.

Alongside these urgent safety works, we are also hoping to replace our ageing cooker, which is becoming increasingly unreliable and costly to maintain and install new curtains to replace those that are now tired and difficult to operate. While less visible than the structural repairs, these improvements will help ensure the hall remains a welcoming, practical and enjoyable space for the many groups, organisations and families who use it every year.

These are not optional improvements. They are essential works needed to protect the hall and secure its future for the generations who will use it after us.

As trustees, we are committed to addressing these issues before they become larger and more costly problems. But we cannot do it alone.

The reality is that income from hall hire helps cover our day-to-day running costs, but it cannot generate the many thousands of pounds needed for major structural repairs. That is why we are launching a new, major fundraising campaign and seeking support from local residents, businesses, charitable trusts and anyone who values what the hall brings to our community.

What gives me confidence is the wonderful support this village has shown time and again. Whether through volunteering, attending events, donating or simply encouraging others to get involved, local people have always stepped forward when the hall has needed help.

Now we are asking for your support once again.

Every contribution, whatever its size, will help us protect a much-loved community asset and ensure the hall remains safe, welcoming and available for future generations.

The hall belongs to our community. Its future depends on all of us.

If you are able to support our fundraising efforts, attend a fundraising event, make a donation or simply spread the word, we would be enormously grateful.

Together, we can secure the future of All Saints & District Village Hall for many years to come.

Thank you for your support.
